…Says Strategic Summit Will Assess Impact of Government Policies on Ordinary Nigerians
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, has called on Ministers, Special Advisers, Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Federal Government Agencies to intensify efforts to communicate the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration to Nigerians.
The SGF made the call while addressing Federal Appointees at the Federal Appointees Strategic Summit on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, in Abuja, describing the Summit as an important platform for taking stock of the achievements of the administration and examining how government programmes and policies have positively impacted the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
According to him, the Summit is strategic because it brings together key political appointees and Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to reflect on what has been achieved and how such achievements can translate into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
“This is a strategic Summit of top political appointees of government. We are referring to Ministers, Special Advisers, Chairmen and CEOs of Agencies,” the SGF stated, stressing that the broad representation was necessary given the extensive responsibilities of government agencies across the country.
Senator Akume said the Summit would provide an opportunity to examine the scorecard of the administration and assess the extent to which government interventions have made a positive difference in the lives of Nigerians.
He therefore urged Ministers and Heads of government agencies to take responsibility for communicating the programmes, policies and achievements of their respective institutions to the Nigerian people in a clear and accessible manner.
He emphasised that the Summit was not intended as an exercise for evaluating or judging individual Ministers or Agencies, but rather as a platform to identify what has been achieved across MDAs and determine how those achievements can be translated into improved outcomes for citizens.
“We are not evaluating. What we are doing is taking stock of what has been achieved by each Ministry and every Agency, and how we are able to influence the lives of the ordinary people,” he stated.
He urged participants to be open and constructive during the sessions, encouraging them to freely share their experiences, challenges and perspectives on the implementation of government programmes.
In his remarks, the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Henry Dele Alake, stated that the engagement provides an opportunity for every Ministry, Agency, Board, Federal establishment and institution to present its achievements and demonstrate the contributions it has made to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. He urged participants to regard the exercise as a presentation of the collective scorecard of every appointee entrusted with responsibilities by the President.
Dr. Alake added that the administration has recorded significant and unprecedented strides since its inception, stressing that the achievements are based on tangible facts and should not be dismissed as mere rhetoric or political grandstanding. He noted that the time has come to communicate these accomplishments more effectively to Nigerians and demonstrate their impact across different sectors.
Also speaking at the Summit, the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, CON, explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to contest the 2023 presidential election was informed by a determination to address longstanding challenges confronting the country and to make difficult but necessary choices in the national interest. He stressed that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not merely a campaign slogan but the product of careful consideration of Nigeria’s circumstances and the choices required to move the country forward.
He commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for convening the engagement, describing it as an important platform for Federal Government appointees to collectively review and communicate the achievements recorded under the administration.
The Federal Appointees Strategic Summit brings together key officials of the Federal Government to deliberate on government programmes, achievements, challenges and strategies for strengthening the implementation and communication of the administration’s agenda.
