The Federal Government has announced plans to adopt a Whole-of-Government approach as part of its renewed efforts to accelerate the delivery of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s key priorities and reform agenda in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, disclosed this while delivering his keynote address at the first ever Sectoral Retreat for Heads of Agencies under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation with the theme: “Strengthening Coordination for Results: Aligning Mandates with Presidential and Service Priorities for Effective Policy Implementation” in Abuja.
He stated that to actualise the Renewed Hope Agenda, there is a need to align mandates and build a seamless integration of policy-making and implementation across different departments and levels of government to ensure the actualisation of the Presidential priorities.
“This Agenda programme is based on the vision of the government to prioritise economic revitalisation, social inclusion, infrastructure and development of fundamental governance reform. To achieve our vision, we must adopt a whole-of-government approach. This means breaking down silos, aligning our mandates, and forging powerful solutions across every ministry, department, and agency. Our objective is simple: to build a seamless government machinery where every component works cohesively to advance the President’s priorities”, he said.
Sen. Akume disclosed that the government has institutionalised a robust Performance Management System that defines the performance of each MDA through continuous tracking, transparent monitoring and evaluation of their programmes and activities in line with the Presidential priority areas.
Speaking at the occasion, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman urged MDAs to ensure that their programmes and activities align with the eight presidential priority areas that will add value to the lives of Nigerians in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary Overseeing the General Services Office, Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, FCNA said there is need to deepen understanding, enhance institutional synergy, and formulate actionable strategies that will improve the performance of the OSGF and its agencies, while identifying practical mechanisms for better coordination and implementation in line with the presidential priority areas.
